tartanilla

the last time i rode a tartanilla/kalesa was that time when Jopet, Joyce, Donah, Doris and i went to Carbon market to look for materials to be used as props. (us being propsmen for a christmas production which turned out to be disastrous)
that was almost three years ago but i still remember how good it feels. i've never mounted a horse, i wish to though, and riding a kalesa is closest to riding on horseback
i love the clicking of the horse's shoes as it struts in the street not minding about the jeepneys and private vehicles zooming by. i even appreciate the smell of horse dung! it stinks but it's better than car emissions, for me at least.
when on board one though, i can't help but feel a bit of pity for the horse as it is being whipped and made to go to the direction the "kutsero" wants to. although, the streets are made of concrete and leveled out the ride is bumpy which gives you that feeling as if you are in the province going up a steep hill(the carriage is a bit inclined)
riding the kalesa would have been very fashionable if today was 50 years ago. now there are very few kalesa units down at Carbon market. and the horses look tired and deprived of what i dont know food maybe or something more.
i think it'll be a good idea to revive these horses and this kind of transportation. not really for commercial purposes, maybe for tourism or soemthing like that. like in vigan.

i gotta go.
