mushi is not sterile
i blogged about our shih tzu dog a long long long time ago (more than a year ago siguro) about her pagkababae. she was supposed to be a lymphomaniac dog according to the vet and so dili makaanak ug puppies. but chengchedeng!! she gave birth yesterday to four very cute puppies. white, brown-brown, another brown-brown and black pup. i didnt attend review class because of this.
we were already suspicious that she could be pregnant (her tummy got bigger and her nipples larger) but didnt expect too much, relying on the expert's opinion (the vet) na she is sterile. another vet even said that it could be a tumor!! and she might have to be operated on. hayy thank God there's no giant tumor involved when the pups came out.
mushi's giving birth was such a wonderful sight. i saw it all.. it was like watching discovery channel! hehe or national geographic channel if you want. i whined so much about the camera which my cousin borrowed nya wa pa giuli. i would have captured every birthing minute in video.
i knew that she was going to give birth na when she started scratching the floor (iris termed this as "nesting") and i also noticed a balloon like thing that is nagbitay near her hind legs. i wasnt sure but maybe it could be the water bag or something like that hehe. so i called richard and mary because i panicked! and i didnt know what to do. i made calls to my father, to iris etc.. then iris told me to boil some water, sterilize her forceps and to bring out her purple surgical gloves. i prepared all of those :-) she then called again and said that she couldnt make it on time so i would have to assist in mushi's delivery. she said that i should tear up the sac where the baby puppy is so it can breathe, ituwad siya so the fluids will flow out of her nose, ears, mouth etc. and then with the forceps i would tie the cord and then cut it 3 inches from the puppies tummy.
everything was ready..i was wearing the purple gloves already when the first puppy came out. but all i could do is look. hehe si mary ra ang nag deliver sa puppies, all of them, ako tig pakpak ra hehe and i was the one with the complete operating room costume. hehe we didnt have to cut the cord coz mushi did that herself.. it was just amazing. everything was done through instinct and it was perfect. had i intervened with mushi's instinct maybe napaakan nako niya hehe or worse akoy maka cause na mamatay anyone sa puppies :( i learned a lot yesterday. the house where i live is an institution of learning. haha
i love philippine mangoes. wala lang. :-)
